Becoming a Member of NJHS
Future members are invited to apply after the first full semester of 6th-8th grade when a cumulative average of 90 is reached in Math, Science, Social Studies, English/Literature, Religion, Computers, and Spanish.
A selection committee determines if the applicant fulfills the five requirements for membershipwhich include: scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizenship.
NJHS members must maintain an average of 90 at the end of each 9 weeks and adhere to the NJHS oath to maintain their status in the Chapter.
Students lead service projects, hold snack sales, do charity work, maintain the leadership of the school, and take an end of the year trip.
On average, about 33% of the students in junior high grades 6-8 participate as members of the National Junior Honor Society each year.
